How To Take Control Of Your Paper Clutter

Is your desk or kitchen table overun with paper clutter? Are you overwhelmed with the stacks of bills and mail and struggle with processing it all?

Dont stress!

I have broken the process down into three simple steps.

Step1: Create A Place For Collecting Paper

You will want to create a designated place for all paper to be dumped when it comes into the house. It can be something as simple as a basket placed on an entrway table or kitchen counter. Make sure all family members know where it is.You may need to have a separate basket for things that need attention right away like a permission slip from your child’s teacher.

Check out this video for more details.

Step2: Create An Action File

An action file is where you will put your paperwork into as you process it. You will also want to set up a place for recycling and shredding documents.

Watch this video for more details.

Step 3: Process Papers

This involves setting up a filing system for papers you need to keep for tax purposes. It also requires you to create a schedule for processing papers. You can schedule a different task each day. For example: Monday pay bills, Tuesday file papers, Wednseday shred and so on.

Watch this video for more detailed instructions on how to set up your file system.

I hope this helps relieve some stress when it comes to managing your paper clutter. If you need more tips be sure to check out my blog post titled “Tips For Managing Your Paper Clutter”.
