Take a 15-minute tour around your home. Pretend you are a guest, and this is a bed and breakfast spot. How do you feel in each room? Is it cramped? Do you have space for a suitcase, to hang your clothes, or to put your toiletries?

Note changes you would like to see if you were a guest.

Create unique areas for guests like a bedside table with room for books, a table and chair to use as a vanity, or a framed copy of your wi-fi password.

Shop your home for items to use in guest rooms. You may have an extra chair in the garage: or a tray tucked away in a cabinet. It saves money, and you can put items to use that were once languishing in your home.

Declutter Guest Areas

Guests don’t just stay in their rooms during the holidays. Make a list of the areas in your home where guests love to hang out. Maybe you all love to watch movies in the living room or work together in the kitchen to create a fabulous meal with your family recipes.

Make sure each area is clear of clutter.

Surfaces such as lamp tables, coffee tables, and countertops should be relatively clear of extra items. It makes it tidier for guests to have a place to be.

If you are short on time, it is invaluable to hire a professional organizer. Their expertise can save you precious time while planning your loved one’s stay this year. An organizer can work with you to tame the clutter and leave you more time to prepare for your guests.

Plan Your Menu

Your kitchen is center stage for guests. Make sure you have the tools, space, and ingredients to create meals they will love. A little preparation goes a long way when planning holiday food.

Make a list of all meals during the time guests are staying with you. Decide which meals you plan to cook at home and those you plan to eat out at restaurants, food carts, or picking up take out.

The list will allow you to balance your hosting duties with enjoying time with family and friends.

Then, make sure you have the tools and counter space necessary for cooking certain dishes. Along with this, write a grocery list. You can even order your groceries ahead of time and pick them up curbside at the store.

Entertainment Options

While your loved ones stay with you, they will want fun things to do. Prepare your home and yard for holiday cheer by brainstorming entertainment options.

Set a timer for ten minutes and write a quick list of fun ideas to do at home and in your local area. Some home entertainment ideas could include a movie night with popcorn and snacks, a cozy outdoor campfire in the firepit, or a friendly board game afternoon.

Make sure your living room, dining room table, and outdoor fire pit area are clear, clean and welcoming for guests. This way, you’ll have lots of ways to entertain your guests.

Even though we all love the glow of togetherness, guests will want some moments to themselves. Ensure each guest room or area has space for quiet contemplation.

You may opt to leave out a yoga mat, set up a meditation space, or allow guests to indulge in a comfy nap with a soft blanket. Think about the moments of peace you enjoy and create those for your loved ones.
